The 3XI slumped to a 9-wicket defeat at the hands of Farnworth SC on Sunday. With just 9-men an hour before the start of the game a few phone calls were made and some junior replacements drafted in, Rochdale won the toss and elected to bat on a fine late summers day, regular openers Haroon Rashid and Tim Buckley missing the opening pair was made up from Nathan Green and James ‘Scholesy’ O’Neill who started well, until Scholesy was bowled for 5. From there on things went from bad to worse and Rochdale we’re dismissed for 103. Nathan Green the only man to trouble the scorers with 35.
The Farnworth innings started well for Rochdale with Dave Britton picking up the only wicket with a catch at gully from Mo Zubair. Alas with not a huge total to defend and a much weakend bowling attack the 103 were quickly knocked off, A Brooks with a well constructed 72 N.O.
The 3XI play again on the 29th August away at Fothergill & Harvey CC, and the next home game for the 3XI is Bank Holiday Monday the 30th August.
